Around Here, We Cheer for Dallas

Yesterday afternoon was an unusual day because Daddy came with us to the mall (and Daddy is not big on shopping). The reason for his company? There was a very special purchase to be made: Ben's first Cowboys jersey. We managed to get last one in the store, and Mommy had to strip it off the baby mannequin. It's a size 2T which is too big, but since it was a bit silly price-wise (for an item of baby clothing), we're glad he'll get -- hopefully -- 2 seasons worth of wear out of it. But at the rate this child is growing...who knows? Bring on the beer and brats, we're ready for September.

When did this happen?

I see now what people mean when they say you wake up one day and your kids are grown. Ben has been working on his sitting skills for a while now, but when I took these pictures this morning, I suddenly stood back and wondered "when did my baby become this grow up?" Excuse the Saturday morning bed-head...we hadn't visited our good friend Mr. Brush yet.

Out and About

I took the day off on Friday, and for lunch I took Ben up to my office to meet the girls I work with (and to show him just where it is that mom disappears to every day). He had a balst and seemed to really enjoy meeting all the new people. Several experienced parents warned, "you realize he's about to get REALLY mobile, right?". We're hoping they mean in 3 months or so. Here's Ben and the girls at Enchilladas mexican restaurant. He gave two thumbs up to their guacamole. (You can click the image for a close up view.)

Welcome to our new Blog!

Since I'm having a terrible time keeping up with my E-mail, I'm going to try running a blog with updates about Ben (and the rest of the family) -- we'll see how this goes!

For today, here are a few pictures of Ben playing with his new activity table. The walker goes all the way around it and he even runs a bit when he gets excited. Some of the music on it is pretty irritating, but he seems to enjoy it, so we humor him. We had our carpets cleaned this weekend in anticipation of him figuring out the crawling thing...nothing just yet, but he wants desperately to work it out.
